IT’S NEVER TOO EARLY TO PLAN

Good morning, book lovers!

I know it is still early in the year, but I am starting on a list of possibilities for 55 in 52 2017 edition (yes, my process is long and methodical, are we surprised?) Please share up to 3 authors/books you would recommend. ALL genres welcome.

      1. I’ll also like to suggest a book by Ismail Kadare. Pick one of these 3: The Three-Arched Bridge, Palace of Dreams, or The General of the Dead Army. Here’s another: The Gods, the Little Guys, and the Police by Humberto Constantini. That’s all for now (except for The Mezzanine by Nicholson Baker). Do you think you’ll be able to read 70 books in 52 weeks next year?

  1. Books by Carin Gerhardsen:

    The Gingerbread House
    Cinderella Girl
    Last Lullaby

(And if you would like to read books written by another great swedish author, read books by Camilla Läckberg such as “The ice Princess, The Preacher….and there are more of them as well.) I think that MJ would love them! The same genre as the books above.

      1. This is for Helena – I just learned that Lars Gustafsson recently passed away. Death of a Beekeeper is a wonderful and masterfully written story. I’ve always enjoyed Gustafsson’s short stories as well.

  2. Here’s another all time favorite of mine: Epitaph of a Small Winner by Machado de Assis. You may find it under a different name now (The Memoirs of …) but Epitaph… is what it was called way back when. The book was written in the late 1800s, although that is not when I bought it.
